What I'm doing here
As a Disney family with multiple DVC contracts, DVC and WDW are very important to us. Like many other Disney families, we follow a well-known roster of Disney bloggers and vloggers. We appreciate them and what they do. And since this is my space to do so, I will give a special shoutout to my favorite, PCDevv.
The vloggers’ niche is that they are in the parks and/or in Disney Springs on a regular basis—they are our eyes and ears. I cannot do what they do. At the same time, I’m not a blogger, either. I do, however, think I have something to add to the Disney blogger/vlogger ecosystem. Why?
First, this is not my full-time job. It’s not even a part-time job. So that means there will be no clickbaity headlines, ads, rumors, or content that has been copied-and-pasted from other sources. If I write about something, it’ll be original work, and hopefully entirely new to you.
Second, by virtue of what is my full-time job, I am very good at analysis. Whether it’s the business aspects of DVC and WDW, or the logistical planning that goes into a successful Disney family vacation, I believe I really have something to add here.
Third, the ‘Dad’ perspective is one that is conspicuously missing from the Disney blogger/vlogger ecosystem. I use scare quotes because that perspective can take on a variety of meanings, or possibly no particular meaning at all, depending on the audience. But if you think you’d like to hear what a DVC Dad—indeed, The DVC Dad—thinks, here I am.
And finally, I really am here to think out loud. I have no agenda of my own. That means I will be highly responsive to the ideas you send me. I assume I will hear nothing but crickets for a long while, but who knows—maybe this thing will take off eventually.
Last thing: I assume I will be writing for a knowledgeable audience, if I ever build one, but I want to be inclusive and draw in more members to the Disney family with each post. Therefore, I will liberally use bulleted lists to bring readers up to speed before diving into the details, and from now on with the exception of DVC and WDW, which are abbreviations of Disney Vacation Club and the Walt Disney World Resort, I won’t use abbreviations without first spelling out the full word.
